Why Physical Therapy?: Bret has always been intrigued by the miraculous human body and how it functions. When looking at possible careers, he knew that he wanted to be a physical therapist directly involved in helping people. Having the chance to experience physical therapy as a patient due to a knee injury and a back injury, Bret discovered the perfect profession to fit his interests. Bret loves to see people improve their lives. He started Idaho Spine and Sports Physical Therapy in 2002.
Bret and his team are always advancing their knowledge in the profession to keep up on the latest research and techniques that provide the best results. He respects every patient and communicates the benefits of health and wellness so clear that patients understand and recover successfully.
Specialties: Bret has a wide range of certifications including McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy, Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and is an ASTYM Provider. As a physical therapist for more than 20 years, he is an expert in back pain and neck pain.
Hobbies: Bret loves spending time with his 3 children. You can also find him doing anything and everything in the great outdoors from biking, hiking, rafting, snowmobiling, and golfing. Bret also never misses an episode of American Idol!
Dr. Jeffrey R. Taylor, PT, DPT
Hometown: Fruitland, Idaho
Degrees: Doctorate of Physical Therapy (Idaho State University) and Bachelor of Science (Boise State University)
Following Boise State University, Jeff moved to Pocatello, Idaho to pursue a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Idaho State University (ISU). While at ISU, Jeff had the opportunity to focus his clinical rotations on outpatient orthopedics. Jeff graduated from ISU in 2012 at the top of his class with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Jeff is certified in athletic training and is a certified ASTYM provider. Jeff is one of the only physical therapists who specializes in vertigo in Meridian and has a high success rate with getting his patients better with physical therapy for the spine, orthopedics, and vertigo.
Why Physical Therapy?: Jeff enjoys the unique opportunity to help individuals return to a high functional status and improve their quality of life by participating in physical therapy. Jeff’s patients range between the ages of 8-97 years old. Jeff is kind, patient, and truly cares about the patients’ well-being. Jeff sees patients with injuries, from pre-operative and post operative physical therapy in hip fracture recovery and total knee replacements.

Hobbies: As an Idaho native, Jeff enjoys all outdoor activities, such as, hiking, fishing, hunting, camping, and rafting. Jeff also tries to stay active with participation in recreational sports, cardiovascular training, and resistance training.
Dr. Kristen Folger, PT, DPT
Hometown: Salem, Oregon
Degrees: Doctorate of Physical Therapy (A.T. Still University, Mesa, Arizona) and Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science (Boise State University)
Why Physical Therapy?: Kristen has always enjoyed helping others achieve their goals and she wanted a career that would allow her to make a positive difference in people’s lives on a day to day basis. She was first exposed to PT following her mother’s hip replacement surgery and from there her interested in the medical field took off. Physical Therapy seemed like the perfect fit due to her athletic background and her eagerness to help others achieve an active lifestyle. Kristen provides physical therapy services in Meridian, Idaho.

Hobbies: Playing with her dog, Hailey, including fetch at any of the local parks or taking her to the river to swim. Road trips all over the country; her goal is to visit all 50 states. Participating in any and all recreational sports and staying active with cardiovascular fitness and resistance training.
Dr. Devyn R. Dodge, PT, DPT
Hometown: Lancaster, California
Degrees: Doctorate of Physical Therapy (Azusa Pacific University) and Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports Physiology/Physical Therapy (Biola University)
Why Physical Therapy?: Devyn has been an active person her entire life as a competitive gymnast, cheerleader and soccer player with hobbies such as snowboarding, wakeboarding and riding motorcycles. Her love for the medical field started while volunteering at a hospital in high school. During an internship in college she got her first taste of the physical therapy world, and after only a few weeks she knew she had found her calling in life. Physical Therapy is the perfect blend of the medical field that helps people get out and do what they love pain free. Nothing beats the joy of seeing a person’s face when they reach their goals. Whether small goals like first steps after surgery, or big goals like an athlete returning to the field, every day is a day closer to reaching that goal. Devyn is also a certified ASTYM provider. Dr. Steve Oswald, PT, DPT, OCS, PES
Hometown: Mountain Home, ID
Degrees: Doctor of Physical Therapy (Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions) and Bachelors of Health Sciences & Biology (College of Idaho)
Why Physical Therapy?: Steve has always been fascinated by the human body and movement. From a very young age, he knew he wanted to be in the medical field. Steve’s tipping point with selecting physical therapy as a profession was after his own rehabilitation experience, following a basketball injury that resulted in an ACL reconstruction. His personal experience with physical therapy was his catalyst for a passion in helping others improve their life experiences through optimizing movement quality and reducing their pain. Steve is a Perfomance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through NASM; he has a strong background in fitness and performance training, helping transition athletes and weekend-warriors back into activities they may be having difficulty performing. Hobbies: Steve is an active outdoorsman, frequently hiking, mountain biking, camping, backpacking during the summer, while enjoying skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing during the winter months. Steve is also an avid sports fan, especially college football (GO BOISE STATE!). You can typically find Steve glued to a TV watching football, or in attendance of a game most Saturdays from September to December.
Kim Baker, DPT, PT

Why Physical Therapy?:
Kim grew up participating in multiple sports and activities growing up including competitive dance (tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop), volleyball, and soccer. In middle school she had multiple foot fractures from competitive dancing where she attended rehab after for many months. She always loved helping others but found herself loving therapy as it helps people getting back to all the things they enjoy.

Denice Y. Romero-Marquez, MSPT, PT
Hometown: Born & raised in Mexico, lived on both ends of the United States, recently implanted to Boise, ID area.
Degrees: BS in Anatomy and Physiology (Andrews University), MS in Physical Therapy (Andrews University)
Why Physical Therapy?:
Denice believes that there is a higher power that has fearfully and wonderfully made the human body. There is something phenomenal that happens when the right treatment approach is applied to the human body, which results in improved function because the body adapted to the changes it was exposed to. The opportunity to participate in creating those changes in the body, is both an honor and a thrill for Denice.
After 22 years in practice, Denice continues to look for opportunities to advance her skills and knowledge in order to better serve her patients. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge with other therapists and collaborating as a team in order to complement each other’s strengths, for better patient outcomes.
Specialties: Over the years, Denice has had the opportunity to practice PT in different settings and taking with her new skills to add to her “bag of tricks”. In the past 3 ½ years, she has taken multiple courses on vestibular rehab and concussions, as well as treated patients with vestibular disorders. Furthermore, she is an orthopedic generalist with a variety of manual skills, having completed 18 months of orthopedic continuing education through Folsom Physical Therapy in northern California. She is also a Credentialed Clinical Instructor and has a passion for helping new/upcoming therapists develop and grow into this rewarding profession.
Hobbies: Denice and her family thoroughly enjoy volley ball and are looking forward to watching BSU’s volleyball teams compete in this upcoming season. Furthermore, she and her family LOVE movies, especially the Avenger’s series! She and her family consider themselves “foodies” and explore different cuisine styles and new restaurants – feel free to share your recommendations with her!
Kelli Ayers, PTA
Hometown: Soda Springs, Idaho
Degrees: Associates of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant and also Massage Therapy (Idaho State University College of Technology)
Why Physical Therapy?: Kelli has been active in sports growing up playing everything from basketball, volleyball, track & field, and softball. In 8th grade, Kelli tore her ACL playing basketball requiring surgery and rehab following. She loved the idea of being able to help people achieve the same success she got from her therapy and help others get back to doing what they enjoy. Kelli completed the Massage Therapy program in 2009 and worked part-time as a MT while completing the PTA program. She became active in bodybuilding and powerlifting within the past few years which has helped her in more ways than just strength training but also educating herself and others on how to avoid future injuries. Kelli provides physical therapy in Boise. Kelli is also a certified ASTYM provider.

Dr. Taylor A. Cavazos, PT, DPT

Why Physical Therapy?: Taylor grew up participating regularly in gymnastics, dance, aerial and basketball. While attending school, she instructed many classes for all ages in jazz, tap, hip hop, and ballet dance classes at various studios around Washington, as well as fitness workshops in New Hampshire. She has always had an appreciation for the human body, what it is capable of, and its ability to heal with proper education and training. She experienced many months of rehab after three spinal stress fractures as a teenager, and learned the great value that physical therapy can have in people’s lives. She is passionate about teaching others the importance of movement, wellness, and a healthy balanced lifestyle.

Why Physical Therapy?: After being a patient of physical therapy for over six months, Sydney knew her passion was to help others achieve a pain free lifestyle as her PT did for her. Why Physical Therapy?: Jake went through physical therapy as an injured athlete and developed an interest in exercise science. Now he is excited to be on the other side, helping people return to the level of activity they need to achieve their goals and maintain their health.

Zac is a professional river rat/Gambler- he worked as a professional guide on a number of rivers throughout the United States and Central America. Why Physical Therapy?: With the help of a sports medicine class in high school, Amy found physical therapy to be something she knew she would love doing for the rest of her life. Being able to help someone overcome injuries and/or pain creates a joy that she did not know was possible. Just the way the human body works, how it is capable to heal itself amazes her to the point that she wants to keep learning about it. Also playing sports in high school helped Amy want to stay within the athletic realm which lead to her career choice. Amy was very fortunate to know exactly what she wanted to do and what exactly she wanted to get her degree in once she graduated high school.

Why Physical Therapy?: Jidzi loves building and maintaining relationships, along with learning, unlearning, and re-learning new processes. She cares for patients and people of all walks of life and wants to help in any way she can! She wants to be a part of the journey to helping people better themselves in a healthy and fulfilling way – even if this time around it’s on the sidelines and at the front desk.

Sydney “Syd” Adams, Patient Relations

Why Physical Therapy?: Syd loves being a part of patient and business experiences. She travels across the country 3-4 times a year to visit other PT clinics where they coach each other on the physical therapy industry. They share their outcomes and ways to better improve the patient experience. Why Physical Therapy?: With a passion for helping people with their medical care, Nora has worked in the medical field for over 20 years. It is her goal to help patients with kindness, compassion and empathy to ensure they have the best experience in a time when they are most in pain and vulnerable.
Hobbies: Nora enjoys music, playing and recording Christian music with her best friend. She’s involved in many ministries with her church, including a Christian Healing Prayer Ministry. She’s participated in prison ministry bringing praise and worship to the men and women incarcerated through the Idaho Department of Corrections.

Why Physical Therapy? Jordan loves to be able to help with patient needs in any way shape or form. She is always there to help in anyway shape or form and will try to find the best solution to any problem.

Tyler Trifiletti, Therapy Trainer

Degree: Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Wellness & Health from the University of Dubuque.
Why Physical therapy?: Tyler went through physical therapy as a high school baseball player with a slightly torn acl. He loved the way he was able to heal and get back to playing. Tyler also went through physical therapy multiple times as a college baseball player. He enjoys being able to help patients get back to full health and doing things they thought they would never be able to do again. Tyler also enjoys being able to connect with patients to help them get through the pain a lot easier and make their therapy experience more enjoyable.

Hobbies: Tyler loves doing research on new forms of exercise and other health related topics. He is currently in the process of getting his CSCS (strength & conditioning coach certification) as well his EP-C ( certified exercise physiologist). As a former collegiate athlete, Tyler watches baseball, college sports and NFL. He cooks many different types of food and enjoys spending time with his dog and girlfriend.
