Shoulder Expert: Dr. Michael T Daines, MD

We had the opportunity to welcome and interview Dr. Michael Daines, MD who is a new Orthopedic Surgeon in the Treasure Valley specializing in shoulder treatments. Not only is he an expert in total shoulder replacements, shoulder reconstructions and rotator cuff repairs, he also treats knees and hips.  Dr. Daines also does non-surgical care including injections.

He works with the West Idaho Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Clinic which is part of the Independent Physicians of    Idaho network.  The purpose and core values of Independent Physicians of Idaho is to educate patients about their   freedom to choose the health care that is in their best interest and provide them with a choice of independent physicians covering all areas of specialties. They believe that it is the patient’s right to make informed, intelligent choices about their health care providers.

New patients can usually be seen by Dr. Daines in less than a week because he understands the importance of getting patients in right away. Dr. Daines and his PAs are very caring and follow their patients closely after surgery.  They also rely on regular

communication with physical therapy to ensure the best outcomes.

Dr. Daines is a strong proponent of physical therapy.  He likes to work closely with the physical therapist to ensure cost effective and efficient care. He feels that it is important to provide the right treatment to his patients at the right time in the recovery process. He relies on physical therapy to educate, motivate and guide his patient’s recovery.

Besides being active in the community and dedicating his time to his patients, Dr. Daines enjoys hunting (with his dog ‘Hawkeye’),  fishing and spending time with his 3 kids.
